Hotel and Parking
Our hotel is Crowne Plaza Albany – The Desmond Hotel, at 660 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12211. Their phone number is +1-518-869-8100.
The Desmond is an elegant hotel with a unique indoor courtyard! The Desmond offers a Restaurant, bar, a pool and a fitness center. Breakfast is served 7am-11:30 am; Lunch 11:30 am-4:30 am; Dinner 4:30pm-11:00 pm. 11:30 am- 11:30 pm, plus the NERLSCD “After Dark” extended time on Thursday is until midnight.
Complimentary parking is provided for hotel guests only. The Albany International Airport is only 0.5 miles from the hotel
Qiagen Pre-Meeting Workshop
Dr. Rulli, Director Global Product Manager, RNAseq Profiling and NGS Assay Technologies will run the workshop starting at 2 pm until 4 pm. All interested, meet in the High Street Ballroom 1.
NE-CAN meeting ahead of NERLSCDs
For folks attending the NE-CAN, meet at the NERLSCD at the High Street Boardroom at 3pm, Wednesday October 16
Opening Reception at the Albany Institute of History & Art (AIHA)
The reception on Wednesday October 16th will start at 6 pm, and will end by 9 pm. Busses will be provided from the hotel to the AIHA and back. Please, be in the hotel lobby by 5:30 pm. There is very limited parking at the AIHA, so we highly encourage you to take the bus, instead of your personal car.
BSL3 Laboratory User Open Discussion
Join us during Thursday’s lunch in the Fort Orange Atrium to have a discussion on BSL3 Lab operations, challenges, and best practices. We will have a reserved table.

Lately weather is unpredictable but expect cool mornings and evenings! (55-60F) and don’t discard possible rain……
Nearby Attractions
There will be a booth “Discover Albany”, by the NERLSCD Registration table, displaying multiple options for Restaurants nearby (on Wolf Road, 2.5 miles from the hotel), as well as other attractions in the Capital Region.
Transportation
The hotel offers shuttles to transport guests up to 3 miles from the hotel. Other options include Uber or Lift.
